ALTA Foundation START Program

The ALTA Foundation has been piloting a program called START (Support for Teaching Atlanta Recreational Tennis) in Cobb County Title I High Schools since 2019. Title I schools receive federal funds to support academic challenges facing the high percentages of children from low-income families. While these schools may have booster clubs or receive funds for more prominent sports such as football or soccer, tennis programs tend to be ignored.

Pebblebrook High School and Osborne High School in Cobb County have been recipients of the original ALTA Foundation START program grants. Now the foundation is expanding into Phase II in Fulton, DeKalb, Gwinnett, and Clayton counties for the 2021/2022 school year.

The ALTA Foundation will be accepting grant applications through November 15, 2021 and will be announcing awards on or before November 30, 2021.

ALTA Documents

Need ALTA information? You're in the right place for rules, handbooks, guides and season packets that will answer questions and provide necessary instructions for playing ALTA tennis. Document availability is role-based. If you are a captain or other team leader, you will have access to more information than a regular member to help you do your job. ALTA follows the USTA Rules of Tennis found in Friend at Court. You should also consult ALTA's rules for specific guidelines concerning league play and other ALTA-sponsored events. Those rules provide information on ALTA-specific regulations, such as default, forfeiture, retirement, scheduled match, sandbagging, inclement weather, rules specific to each league, Senior Leagues, Junior Leagues and Junior Challenge Ladder.

FALL LEAGUE PLAY

The fall season wraps up soon, and we have updated our COVID-19 guidelines.

ALTA is excited to be able to relax some of the current rules and guidelines associated with COVID-19 and league play. We are pleased to share the full 3rd set is BACK! ALTA will be returning to the format of best 2 out of 3 sets. Because of the summer heat and other factors, you still have the option of playing a 10-point tiebreak if all four players can agree anytime before the 3rd set begins. Remember to check the ALTA website for complete details on league play and current updates. For more information, please read the entire document below.

We appreciate all of our members and thank you for being a part of ALTA!
