Junior Tennis League

Junior Boys TennisThe ALTA Junior Tennis League is designed for boys and girls ages 8 to 18. The teams are organized by gender with the girls' teams playing on Saturday afternoons at 1:30 p.m.and the boys' teams playing on Saturday afternoons at 3:30 p.m..

Teams are broken down into 10 & under, 12 & under, 14 & under, and 18 & under age groups and compete in two seven week seasons held in the Spring and Fall. Teams are also leveled by ability and previous success. The ALTA Junior Tennis League is a large and successful league encompassing over 7,000 members and more than 800 teams.

Junior ALTA teams are scheduled out of facilities within the five county metro area or at an approved annexed facility. Teams are organized from subdivisions or community swim and tennis facilities; public parks or tennis facilities; and, private country clubs or tennis clubs.

The $10 annual membership fee may be made online at our website. Team Managers, typically the parent of one of the team members, organize the eight (8) or more players. They may collect the $10 Junior League annual fee from each player and submit it as one check to the ALTA office or use a credit card to pay for all the team members online. Or, each member's parent may go to our website and pay their child's individual dues. The Team Manager also submits the team roster via the ALTA website. An unpaid player will not be accepted on a roster.

Details for each of these steps can be found in the Team Manager's Packet, which can be requested with our online Team Manager Packet Request Form or by contacting the ALTA office by mail or telephone.

Junior Girls TennisJunior League matches consist of 8 game pro sets, with standard scoring, in which each team receives a point for each game won. The winning team also receives a bonus point for winning the individual match making a typical match score 9-4. Should the match reach 8 all, a 7-point tiebreak is played to decide the winner. The bonus point is awarded for winning the tiebreak and the score is 9-8. The total possible points that can be won in any dual match is 36 (4 positions x 9 points). Scores for the season are kept cumulatively by the division coordinator, and division winners and playoff seedings are decided on the basis of the total percentage of points won to total matches scheduled to be played. Coordinators and Overall Coordinators are responsible for record keeping of each team in each division and can be called for clarification of rules. The ultimate responsibility for the league lies with the Junior League Vice President.
